‘I’ll do it for nothing’: Former Crystal Palace manager offers to replace Ruben Amorim at Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is under heavy pressure after a poor start to the Premier League season. Amid the rumours of his sacking, former Premier League boss has jokingly offered to coach United without any fee.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is under massive pressure after his team’s poor results in the new Premier League season continue. Amorim was appointed the coach last year following United’s years of struggle, but the Portuguese boss has so far failed to turn things around.

There have been speculations that Amorim might soon be sacked if he fails to improve things at Old Trafford. Several names have been doing the rounds, including that of former England manager Gareth Southgate, ex-Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane, and former Barcelona coach Xavi.

Ex-Premier League boss offers to coach United

Amid all the rumours, former Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has said that he is ready to step in without any fee if United sack Amorim. Speaking to talkSPORT, Warnock joked about the situation and offered to coach United for nothing.

“Have you ever laughed as much in your life when he had the Subbuteo table on his lap. I’m looking at that and thinking ‘I cannot believe what he’s just done in front of the cameras.’ I’ve seen it all. I’m available if they’re struggling. I won’t charge you, I’ll do it for nothing. Put my name in the hat,” the 76-year-old said.

United recently lost to Brentford 3-1 to continue their poor run this season. They are currently placed 14th in the Premier League table with just seven points. In the 49 matches that Amorim has coached, United have won just 18. Things became worse last month when they suffered a shock EFL Cup exit to tier four side Grimsby Town.

Manchester United will try to recover when they face in-form Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. Sunderland are presently ranked fifth in the table with 11 points. Meanwhile, Amorim has insisted he is not worried about his job at United and will do his best for the club till the time he is there.

“I am never concerned about my job. I am not that kind of guy. It is not my decision. I will do the best I can every minute I am here,” Amorim said after the loss to Brentford.
