PADI to host inaugural AmbassaDiver Summit on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef; India represented by Aakash Malhotra and Shaan Singh

The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) has announced the inaugural PADI AmbassaDiver Summit, a global gathering of divers, storytellers, ocean advocates and celebrities that will be held on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef later this year. Hosted in partnership with Tourism Tropical North Queensland, Tourism and Events Queensland, Neuro and Garmin, the summit will take place across Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, offering participants immersive experiences centred on diving, conservation, Indigenous culture and sustainable tourism. The event coincides with two significant milestones – PADI’s 60th anniversary and the 150th anniversary of Cairns, regarded as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. “For 60 years, PADI has empowered people to discover the transformative power of the underwater world and become advocates for its protection,” said Drew Richardson, President and CEO, PADI Worldwide. He added that the summit aims to inspire a new generation of explorers and ocean advocates. The Great Barrier Reef was selected as the host destination due to its ecological significance and its role as a centre for conservation and marine stewardship. Tropical North Queensland is also home to the Wet Tropics Rainforest, making it the only place in the world where two UNESCO Natural World Heritage sites exist side by side. Representing India at the summit will be adventurer and content creator Aakash Malhotra and DJ Shaan Singh. The two are expected to highlight the growing interest among Indian travellers in scuba diving and marine exploration while encouraging greater awareness around ocean conservation. “Being a part of the inaugural AmbassaDiver Summit means finally connecting in person with the ocean advocates I’ve only known online,” said Singh, adding that he hopes the experience inspires more people to become advocates for ocean protection. Participants will take part in liveaboard diving expeditions, educational dives with Master Reef Guides, conservation initiatives and leadership sessions focused on the future of diving and ocean advocacy. The summit will also feature wellness-focused experiences in collaboration with Garmin and Neuro, reflecting the growing intersection between adventure travel, personal wellbeing and environmental stewardship. PADI said the AmbassaDiver Summit is intended to become an annual global gathering, creating a long-term platform for advancing diving, conservation and ocean stewardship worldwide.
