During the exchange of fire, Ramgarh SHO Sanjeev Dubey was also injured, while ASP (Rural) Anuj Chaudhary narrowly escaped after a bullet struck his bulletproof jacket.

SSP Dixit said Naresh had been interrogated earlier in the day, during which Rs 20 lakh was recovered from him.

After the encounter, police seized an illegal firearm and another Rs 20 lakh in cash from his bag.

Naresh had a bounty of Rs 50,000 announced on him by the Agra DIG following his escape from custody.
