Ravi K. Chandran recalls having ‘Sridevi Room’ in his college

Ravi K. Chandran recalls 'Sridevi Room' in his college; says it was filled with late star's posters

Ravi K. Chandran, the celebrated cinematographer turned director, revealed having a ‘Sridevi room’ at his college and his incredible fate that gave him a surreal moment. As the late actress earned her superstardom with her incredible work, the 60-year-old became one of the millions who gushed over her.

Ravi K. Chandran recalls the Sridevi room

Chandran, being a devoted fan, had a habit of cutting Sridevi’s pictures from newspapers, magazines, and film posters, which he used to paste on the walls of his hostel room during college years. “When we were in college, I stole one cut-out of Sridevi, wherein she was featured standing, from a theatre and brought it to my room, which became the ‘Sridevi room,’” he said in an interview with the Indian Express, adding that the walls were filled with her cut-outs, as he used to cut pictures religiously. Moreover, during exam sessions, he and his friends offered her prayers. Soon after Chandran became a well-known name in the industry, he got a dazzling chance to meet her. Recalling a coincidence, the cinematographer had a meeting with Rajkumar Santoshi for a story narration. After the meet, they decided to watch ‘The Hangover.’ The ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ director invited Anil Kapoor, as he lived nearby. He continued, “Anil came with us, and we all sat in my car. Meanwhile, he said, ‘Let me call Sri also.’”

When Ravi K Chandran met Sridevi

“He gave directions to my driver, and I thought we were picking somebody else. Upon reaching there, Sridevi walked in! They asked me to sit in the centre of the back seat, with Anil on one side and Sridevi on the other,” he revealed, adding that he was left completely speechless. As he sat beside her in the theatre as well, he couldn’t help but look at her. Chandran detailed the iconic ‘Sridevi room’ to her, to which she graciously responded that even she had seen all his films, making one of the unforgettable highlights of his life. Ravi K. Chandran is renowned for his work in ‘Black,’ ‘Saawariya,’ ‘Ghajini,’ ‘My Name Is Khan,’ ‘Dil Chahta Hai,’ and many more. Recently, he worked on ‘They Call Him OG,’ starring Pawan Kalyan.
