The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain along with thunderstorms for Saturday in the national capital. According to the latest forecast by IMD on Friday, the weather department said that Delhi and adjacent cities such as Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall with one or two spells of heavy rainfall during the day.

Delhi and its surrounding areas have been experiencing continuous rainfall for the past few days. The heavy showers have pushed the Yamuna River above the danger mark, causing waterlogging and creating a flood-like situation in the capital. As a safety measure, Delhi Traffic Police has closed Loha Pul for vehicular movement.

The torrential rains have destroyed crops valued at thousands of crores, with several rivers breaching the danger mark, as the region faces one of its most severe weather disasters in decades.

Punjab, grappling with its worst floods in decades, has recorded 43 deaths and damage to crops across 1.71 lakh hectares. Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian stated that 1,902 villages in 23 districts have been affected, impacting over 3.84 lakh residents.

The IMD has predicted more rain across north India in the next three days. Isolated heavy rainfall will continue in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan between September 4-8.

Parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are expected to experience heavy rainfall until September 10, while western and eastern Rajasthan will see heavy showers through September 7.
