According to Dr Sarkar, Bulgarian roses are one of the most exotic and exquisite ingredients because of their rarity and complex origin. “These Bulgarian roses are utilized in skincare products for their exceptionally strong floral aroma mix, where they function as a hydrating lotion or function as antioxidants,” she explains. Rich in polyphenols and flavonoids, they target free radicals, helping manage conditions such as rosacea and dryness, while leaving skin with a radiant, hydrating sheen.

In the Roman Empire, Bulgarian rose oil was used in baths, banquets, and ceremonies as a mark of indulgence. Medieval monks cultivated roses for their medicinal and aromatic properties, while in 17th-century France, roses became integral to fine perfumery. “Every century created its own story, thus making rose a timeless fragrance that still dominates the world of perfumery today,” she adds.

The fragrance can be soft and romantic, bold and mysterious, or even spicy and seductive, depending on how it’s blended.” This versatility is why rose-based perfumes continue to be among the most loved luxury fragrances in India and around the globe.
