Israel on Wednesday issued a final warning to Gaza City residents, ordering them to flee south or be regarded as terrorists, as its military announced plans to tighten the city’s encirclement.

“This is the last opportunity for Gaza residents who wish to do so to move south and leave Hamas operatives isolated in Gaza City,” said Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz in a statement shared with local media.

“Those who remain… will be considered terrorists and terrorist supporters,” Katz noted.

The warning came amid intense Israeli airstrikes on Gaza City on Wednesday. Witnesses reported heavy bombardment as pressure mounted on Hamas to respond to a US-backed ceasefire plan.

A day earlier, US President Donald Trump gave Hamas an ultimatum of “three or four days” to accept a new peace proposal. The plan, supported by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calls for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages within 72 hours, the disarmament of Hamas, and a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

The proposal has received support from several world powers, including Arab and Muslim nations. It also includes the creation of a post-war transitional authority for Gaza, to be led by Trump himself.
