It was a night of cinematic beauty and couture poetry as siblings Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan made their first-ever runway appearance together, setting the tone for Abhinav Mishra’s latest couture showcase, The Shrine. Staged in the serene gardens of Chhatarpur under an open sky, the show felt like stepping into a living painting where tradition, architecture, and storytelling intertwined through design, light, and melody.

For Abhinav Mishra, known for transforming every presentation into a sensorial experience, The Shrine marked yet another milestone. Beneath the stars, the set unfolded as a majestic architectural stepwell shimmering with candlelight and mirrored reflections, a visual tribute to heritage and craftsmanship.

Sara Ali Khan, a long-time muse for Abhinav, returned as his showstopper, closing the evening in a resplendent rusty orange ensemble richly embroidered with the designer’s signature mirror work, sequins, zari, and resham, finished with crystal fringes. The look drew from the architectural grandeur of Mughal shrines, balancing royal opulence with modern radiance.

Her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan complemented her in a regal sherwani crafted from earthy gold katan silk, intricately detailed with mirror work, resham, and zari embroidery. The structured silhouette marked a bold new direction in Abhinav’s menswear, bringing a stately edge to his otherwise fluid aesthetic. Together, the duo embodied the essence of Abhinav Mishra’s world – one where tradition meets modernity, and emotion meets craftsmanship.

A Celebration of Light, Craft, and Memory

A poetic ode to India’s architectural heritage, The Shrine continued Abhinav’s devotion to mirror work and gota, crafts he has revived and reimagined for a new generation. The collection drew inspiration from shrines, palaces, and frescoes and came alive in pastel palettes, fluid silhouettes, and intricate detailing, evoking a sense of sacred nostalgia.

Reflecting on the collection, Abhinav Mishra said, “The Shrine, for me, is a metaphor for everything sacred – our craft, our stories, our sense of belonging. It is inspired by carved pillars, fading frescos, and mirrored walls – things that carry the memory of generations. I wanted this collection to feel like a quiet celebration of that history, retold in a language of softness, sparkle, and soul.”

With The Shrine, Abhinav Mishra reaffirmed his position as a master of couture storytelling, and with Sara and Ibrahim leading the way, the night became a glowing portrait of heritage, glamour, and kinship.
