Ajay Devgn’s ‘Dhamaal 4’ kicked off its theatrical run on a strong note, delivering an opening day performance that surpassed early trade estimates. Released on July 10, the Indra Kumar directorial emerged as the highest-grossing new release of the day, despite facing competition from multiple Hindi, South Indian and Hollywood titles.Dhamaal 4 Movie ReviewAccording to early box office estimates on Sacnilk, ‘Dhamaal 4’ earned an estimated Rs 13.75 crore net at the Indian box office on Day 1 across 10,669 shows. The film’s India gross collection stands at an estimated Rs 16.50 crore. The film earned an additional Rs 5 crore overseas, thus taking its worldwide gross total to an estimated Rs 21.50 crore on its opening day.
‘Dhamaal 4’ beats opening day expectations
The film’s opening day collections comfortably exceeded initial projections, which had pegged its Day 1 earnings in the Rs 12-13 crore range. Instead, ‘Dhamaal 4’ benefited from a steady rise in footfalls through the day, finishing with an overall occupancy of 24%.As per the report, the film’s strongest audience turn out came from key mass and urban markets like Maharashtra and Delhi-NCR, where the franchise has traditionally enjoyed a loyal audience base.
Competition across languages
‘Dhamaal 4’ opening becomes even more noteworthy considering the crowded box office. The film shared screens with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, Alia Bhatt’s ‘Alpha’, Telugu action drama ‘Lenin’, and Hollywood releases ‘Evil Dead Burn’ and the live-action ‘Moana’. Despite the competition, the Ajay Devgn-led comedy managed to emerge as the day’s top-performing new release, placing it in a favourable position heading into its first weekend. The film is expected to witness a big jump in collections on Saturday and Sunday, with the help of good world of mouth and audience feedback.The film will have a week-long run before it faces added competition at the box office from Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ which also has a big fan-base in the country.
‘Dhamaal 4’ CBFC rating
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) awarded the film a U/A 13+ certificate without any scene cuts, requiring only minor dialogue and gesture modifications. The franchise’s nostalgic value also appears to have played a crucial role in boosting the box office business.
