A six-year-old child died after falling into a 15-foot-deep water-filled pit near Kaladham Society in Knowledge Park, Greater Noida. The pit was reportedly dug by the Greater Noida Authority for pipeline and boring work and became filled with rainwater. Local residents alleged that there were no barricades, warning signs, or safety arrangements around the site, leading to the tragic accident. Residents blamed the authority’s negligence, stating that proper safety measures could have prevented the child’s death. They questioned why such deep excavations were allowed without protective barriers and proper information for residents. Following the incident, authorities assured an investigation and action against those responsible. Police said a case was registered based on the family’s complaint, and one contractor involved in the work was arrested and sent to jail. According to officials, police and fire department teams reached the spot after receiving information, but the child had already been taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead. The incident has raised concerns over safety practices at construction sites in Noida and Greater Noida.
