Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sail Pallavi starrer ‘Ramayana’ creates buzz at SDCC 2026 as viral video claims exclusive gold shankha gifts for attendees – Watch Video

While fans were left disappointed after the postponement of the much-awaited ‘Ramayana’ trailer, visitors at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026 reportedly experienced a memorable surprise. A viral video circulating online claims that attendees, particularly members of the Indian diaspora, received an exclusive gift from the film’s makers. However, the clip’s authenticity has not been independently verified.According to the video, recipients received a pink presentation box bearing the Prime Focus branding. Inside was a note from the ‘Ramayana’ team along with a gold-coloured shankha (conch shell) wrapped in a soft fabric. The ornamental conch features intricate carvings inspired by the epic ‘Ramayana’. Soon after the convention, the video spread rapidly across social media, with fans speculating whether the souvenir was officially distributed by the film’s team.

‘Ramayana’ trailer launch deferred after SDCC appearance

Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, along with producer Namit Malhotra, represented ‘Ramayana’ at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The film’s trailer had initially been scheduled for release on July 24 at 8 am IST, but the launch was postponed. Explaining the decision, Malhotra said, “Today is a very special moment for our Ramayana. My dream of taking Ramayana to the world is now a reality with our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. In light of the above, we will be launching our trailer globally at a later date.”He further added, “In over 100+ years of Indian cinema, this will become a moment of great pride where Ramayana will be shown to the entire world like any major global Hollywood film. This is special as it opens the door for people around the world to discover the richness of our culture and our stories with renewed pride and enthusiasm.”Although the makers have not officially cited a reason, the statement came amid nationwide student protests over the alleged NEET paper leak controversy. Reports suggest the trailer may now arrive between July 29 and July 31, but no official confirmation has been issued.

‘Ramayana’ early preview and online leaks

Before travelling to SDCC, the makers organised a special showcase during the Pratham Sankalp event in Delhi on July 18. Following the preview, several purported versions of the ‘Ramayana’ trailer surfaced online. None of these leaked clips have been verified by the makers. Meanwhile, two versions of the trailer have reportedly received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Star-studded cast of ‘Ramayana’ brings the epic to life

Directed on a massive scale, ‘Ramayana’ features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita, while Yash essays Ravana.
