Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress party over the AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj’s challenge to Indian T20 skipper Suryakumar Yadav to donate his match fees from all the games to the armed forces and the families of the Pahalgam attack victims.

In an X post, BJP’s spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla called Bharadwaj “foul mouth” and demanded he issue a public apology, after Yadav announced he would donate his match fees from all the games of the T20 Asia Cup to the armed forces and the families of the Pahalgam attack victims.

Poonawalla also asked if AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal will take action against Bharadwaj.

“AAP had thrown a challenge at Surya Kumar Yadav.. This foul mouth Saurabh Bharadwaj has said, “tumhari aukaat hai to de do paisa“. Guess what SKY has dedicated his match fees to Armed Forces,” Poonawalla mentioned in the post.

“But should the media and public not ask this man to now give up public life. This shameful man made such caustic casteist classist & vile comments at Surya Kumar YADAV. Will Kejriwal take action on Saurabh Bharadwaj?” he asked.

In another self-recorded video, Poonawalla alleged the AAP and the Congress party were not happy with India’s win against Pakistan, and that they do not leave any chance to humiliate the Indian players and forces.

SAURABH BHARADWAJ’s CHALLENGE TO SURYAKUMAR YADAV

As BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya hailed Team India’s decision to not accept the Asia Cup Trophy from Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Saurabh Bharadwaj shared a video of Yadav shaking hands with Naqvi, and claimed that the video of shot 15 days before the match.

“Look, at the beginning of the series, just 15 days ago, they even shook hands with Pakistan’s minister Mohsin Naqvi, and got a photo taken too,” the AAP leader wrote.

“But when there was opposition to the match in India, they gave the players a new script so that they could run propaganda in the country,” he added, sharing the video.

Later, in a video widely shared on social media, Bharadwaj challenged Yadav to donate his match fees from all the games to the armed forces and the families of the Pahalgam attack victims.

SURYAKUMAR YADAV DONATES ALL MATCHES FEE

Soon after India defeated Pakistan by five wickets to win the Asia Cup Final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Suryakumar Yadav announced that he would donate his match fees from all the games of the T20 Asia Cup.

“I want to give my match fees from all the games which I have played in this tournament to the Indian Army”, he said in the post-match press conference after winning the Asia Cup 2025 by defeating Pakistan.

He echoed the same in an X post, which read, “I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack.”

“You always remain in my thoughts,” he added.

INDIA REFUSES ASIA CUP TROPHY FROM NAQVI

In an unprecedented turn of events, Naqvi, in his capacity as the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), denied the Indian cricket team the Asia Cup Trophy after it refused to accept the silverware from him.

It is learnt that BCCI had informed their ACC points-person that the team won’t take the award from Naqvi, who has a pronounced anti-India stance.

Naqvi had posted cryptic videos of Cristiano Ronaldo’s plane crash gesture celebrations, a reference to the Pakistani claims that six Indian jets were downed during ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.

Naqvi was also behind Pakistan’s demand that ICC charge Suryakumar with a Level 4 offence for standing by the Indian Army and showing solidarity with victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.

The Indian team had also maintained a ‘no handshake’ policy with regard to Pakistan during the tournament.
