Food Delivery Agent Crushed To Death After Coming Under Speeding Truck In Gurugram

A Zomato deliveryman from Auraiya, was killed by a speeding truck near Vatika Chowk on SPR, Gurgaon. Police impounded the truck and registered an FIR at Badshahpur station.

A 20-year-old food deliveryman was killed in a road accident after being crushed by a speeding truck near the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), near Vatika Chowk, the Gurgaon police said.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Vikas, a native of Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh, who was working with Zomato in Gurugram.

The accident occurred on the intervening midnight of Friday and Saturday when Vikas was en route to deliver an order.

As per the police, he slowed down to make a U-turn near Vatika Chowk when a speeding truck collided with his motorcycle from the side. Vikas became trapped under the truck’s front right tyre and was crushed. The truck driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind, which has since been impounded by the police, the Indian Express reported.

The victim’s family has been notified, and the body has been sent to the mortuary for a postmortem, the police added.

An FIR has been registered against the unidentified driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Badshahpur police station. A hunt is underway to nab the accused.

Earlier, between July and August, at least two shooting cases occurred on the stretch within a month. In August, a man from Delhi was shot dead near the Kherki Daula Toll Plaza in Sector 77. In July, singer-rapper Rahul Fazilpuria was fired at near Badshahpur on the SPR in Sector 71, but he escaped unharmed.
