‘Lenin’ locks OTT premiere
The makers have officially announced the film’s digital release date. ‘Lenin’ will begin streaming on ZEE5 from August 7, 2026. The streaming platform confirmed the premiere through its social media channels and also released the official OTT trailer.
A story rooted in village life
Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, ‘Lenin’ is set in a fictional village in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district. The narrative follows an orphan who is raised by the influential village head Jayyamma. As he grows up, he falls in love with Bharathi, but his life soon takes an unexpected turn.The story opens in 1976 and remains firmly rooted in a traditional rural setting. The film also incorporates references to the Mahabharata and the Ramayana.
Cast and performances
Playing a village-based character, Akhil Akkineni moves away from his earlier urban action image. Bhagyashri Borse appears as Bharathi and shares the screen with a supporting cast that includes Sivaji in a prominent role. ETimes reviewed the film positively and wrote, “Returning after a three-year gap, Akhil Akkineni settles comfortably into his first full-fledged rural role. He underplays the character for much of the film before delivering his strongest performance in the emotionally charged climax. Bhagyashri Borse is convincing as free-spirited Bharathi, while the supporting cast lends credibility to the story. Sivaji, despite an effective screen presence, feels somewhat underused.Strong cinematography, an impactful background score and a gripping final hour outweigh the film’s uneven pacing. Lenin is not without its flaws, but its performances, engaging twists and satisfying second half make it a worthwhile watch.”
