Ford Motor Company has inaugurated its new World Headquarters in Dearborn, unveiling the automaker’s first new home base in seven decades. The 2.1-million-square-foot facility, part of the Henry Ford II World Center campus, represents a major milestone in the company’s global transformation strategy.

Thousands of employees, retirees, elected officials and community members attended the grand opening, exploring the four-storey building and participating in Ford-themed activities, including a heritage fleet showcase, a Bronco adventure installation, and a Lincoln Lounge experience.

Unveiling the New Symbol of Ford’s Future

One of the ceremony’s most significant moments was the unveiling of the Blue Oval emblem atop the new headquarters, led by Ford Executive Chair Bill Ford and CEO Jim Farley.

“This campus reflects our enduring belief in American innovation and American leadership,” Bill Ford said. “Though Ford is a global company, it is and will always be an American company at its heart.”

Farley emphasised the building’s purpose as a centre for collaboration. “This campus and this awesome new World Headquarters are more than just places to work,” he said.

A Workspace Designed for Collaboration

Built around three overlapping hexagons, the new headquarters will accommodate 4,000 employees once complete in 2027 — double the capacity of the iconic Glass House. The facility consolidates designers, engineers, strategists and top decision-makers under one roof to accelerate product development.

Key features include, six advanced design studios, three interconnected showrooms, team-centric energy rooms for collaborative work, six interior courtyards adding 100,000 sq ft of open space and awalkable campus with over 12 acres of green landscape.

Inside, employees toured the 160,000-square-foot Gallery Hall dining area, featuring multiple food stations, markets and community spaces.

Celebration of Community, Legacy and Innovation

The ceremony began with a performance by the Detroit Lions’ drumline, followed by the national anthem sung by the daughter of a Ford employee. Former news anchor Devin Scillian hosted the programme, which highlighted Ford’s deep ties to Michigan and the local community.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer praised Ford’s long-standing commitment, joined by US Representatives Debbie Dingell and Rashida Tlaib, Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud and city council members in attendance.

Former CEO Jim Hackett was recognised for initiating the headquarters project during his tenure.

Part of a Global Modernisation Strategy

According to Farley, the new headquarters is one part of Ford’s “sweeping modernisation.” By the end of 2027, over 90 per cent of Ford’s global office employees will work from updated or completely new facilities designed with flexibility, wellbeing and innovation in mind.

“Our people at Ford deserve inspiring spaces to collaborate and cutting-edge tools to do the best work of their lives,” Farley said. “This campus is a bold piece of that commitment.”

The new headquarters underscores Ford’s vision to blend legacy with forward-looking innovation, setting the stage for the next chapter of its 122-year journey.
