Qatar has unveiled the official slogan for its 2025 National Day, highlighting the nation’s commitment to human development and the integral role of its citizens in shaping the country’s progress. Drawn from a speech by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the slogan encapsulates a vision of loyalty, dedication, and collective responsibility as the foundation of Qatar’s achievements.

The 2025 slogan: Meaning and origins

The Organising Committee for Qatar National Day Celebrations announced this year’s slogan: “Bekum Ta’lu W’ Minkum Tantazer” (translated as “The nation rises with you, waits for you”).

  • The phrase is taken from a speech delivered by HH the Amir during his 2016 visit to Qatar University.
  • It reflects the state’s belief that human development is the cornerstone of national progress and the long-term sustainability of Qatar’s achievements.
  • The slogan is intended as an inspiring call for continued dedication, building on the values of giving and nation-building.

HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Culture, emphasized that the phrase underscores the deep connection between citizen contribution and the country’s prosperity. According to him, the nation thrives when its people are committed, aware of their responsibilities, and actively engaged in advancing the state.

Citizenship, responsibility, and patriotism

The Minister highlighted the awareness of Qatari citizens regarding their civic duties:

  • Qataris take pride in the rights they enjoy across various fields.
  • These rights are meaningful only when paired with the fulfillment of corresponding duties.
  • True citizenship, he stressed, is not a privilege but an ongoing act of giving, akin to the devotion one shows to a mother—selfless, loyal, and expecting no reward.

He also noted that patriotism is a deeply rooted cultural value in Qatar, passed from generation to generation. Through knowledge, hard work, and dedication, citizens have continuously demonstrated their commitment to national progress, ensuring that Qatar’s flag remains a symbol of pride and dignity at every stage of development.

Achievements and national identity

HE Sheikh Abdulrahman highlighted Qatar’s remarkable modern achievements, emphasizing that the nation’s development serves as an example on the global stage:

  • Comprehensive progress has been achieved across all sectors.
  • Qatar has secured a prominent position among nations, reflecting the hard work and dedication of its people.
  • The homeland is symbolically likened to a mother who gives selflessly, with citizens repaying this care through loyalty, work, and sacrifice for national advancement.

He added that today, Qataris proudly embrace their identity and values, drawing strength from past accomplishments while advancing confidently toward a future that honors their noble heritage.

National Day celebrations and the committee’s vision

Qatar celebrates its National Day annually on December 18, marking the founding of the state in 1878 by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani. The Organising Committee ensures that each year’s slogan reflects the state’s vision:

  • Promoting loyalty and national pride.
  • Instilling a deep-rooted sense of identity among citizens.
  • Encouraging a culture of giving, responsibility, and active participation in nation-building.

This year’s slogan, drawn from HH the Amir’s speech, reinforces the enduring message that the nation’s strength rises from its people, honoring their contributions while inspiring future generations to uphold Qatar’s values and achievements. Go to Source
