This is Carney’s second visit to the Oval Office since April, as he seeks to ease US tariffs that have impacted Canada’s economy and caused political tensions back home.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney arrived in Washington, where he was welcomed by US President Donald Trump at the White House, as the 60-year-old former banker seeks to ease US tariffs that are impacting Canada’s economy.

This is Carney’s second visit to the Oval Office since April, amid tensions between Washington and Ottawa over Trump’s tariffs and his repeated calls for making Canada the “51st state” of the United States.
