Breaking: Jaipur Trauma Center ICU Fire Claims 8 Lives; Families Allege Negligence by Authorities

A massive fire broke out late Sunday night in the Neuro ICU ward of the Trauma Center at Sawai Mansingh Hospital in Jaipur, resulting in the deaths of eight patients, including three women. The fire reportedly started around 11:20 PM in a storage area containing papers, ICU equipment, and blood sample tubes. Hospital officials suspect a short circuit as the cause. Witnesses and relatives of patients allege severe negligence on the part of the hospital staff. According to them, ward boys fled the scene, leaving critically ill patients unattended. Families claim that the fire could have been controlled if proper arrangements, such as unlocked storage and functional firefighting equipment, had been in place. In the chaos, only a few patients were evacuated safely, while others succumbed to the fire. The incident has raised serious questions about hospital safety protocols and emergency preparedness. Relatives have staged protests, demanding accountability from the hospital administration and calling for the safe release of remaining patients. Authorities have initiated an investigation, and the formation of an inquiry committee has been reported. The tragedy has sparked outrage across Jaipur, highlighting concerns about healthcare safety and administrative lapses in critical care facilities.
