Union Ministers and political leaders on Sunday hailed Harmanpreet Kaur-led Team India after Women in Blue posted a massive 88-run win over Pakistan at Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium in the ICC’s Women’s World Cup league match.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed India’s victory as a “perfect strike” and said, “A perfect strike. Dominating display of India’s cricketing might by our Women’s Cricket team in today’s match in the ICC Women’s World Cup. Nation is proud of our team. Best wishes for your upcoming matches.”

Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar congratulated Team India for a superb victory over Pakistan with a taunt towards the neighbouring country. He said, “Operation Sindoor has turned into a symbol of India’s woman power. Congratulations to our women’s team for carrying that spirit onto the cricket field and defeating Pakistan!”
India Beat Pakistan By 88 Runs
India comfortably defeated Pakistan by 88 runs in their Women’s World Cup 2025 match in Colombo.
After setting Pakistan a challenging target of 248 runs, the Indian bowlers dismissed their opponents for only 159. The victory was set up by contributions from Harleen Deol, who scored 46, and Richa Ghosh’s quickfire 35 off 20 balls. On the bowling side, Kranti Gaud was the star performer, taking three wickets.
The victory gives India a 12-0 head-to-head lead against Pakistan in WODIs.
