The man allegedly drowned his four-month-old son in Beed, then died by suicide.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, police said.
A four-month-old boy found dead in a half-filled water drum in Maharashtra’s Beed district was allegedly drowned by his father, who later killed himself, police said. The incident occurred in Talwada village of Georai taluka on Friday. According to police, the man, identified as Amol Sonavane, threw his infant son into a drum half-filled with water before ending his own life.
Disturbing visuals from the scene showed the baby, dressed in a pink T-shirt and diaper, lying face down in the water with a small pink plastic mug floating nearby.

Police said preliminary investigations suggest that Amol Sonavane had attempted suicide earlier as well. A few days ago, he and his wife allegedly tried to kill themselves following a domestic dispute but were rescued in time. The couple had been discharged from a local hospital on Thursday.
The bodies of Amol Sonavane and his son were sent to the Talwada Primary Health Centre for post-mortem examination.
