A man was shot dead by his own friend in just 11 seconds in Meerut, with another accomplice filming the chilling act and later uploading the video online. The 11-second clip, which quickly went viral, shows the victim, identified as Adil, lying on the ground as his friend fires three bullets into his chest in succession. A voice in the background can be heard urging the shooter to “drop it,” after which the attackers flee the scene on a motorcycle.

Adil’s body was later recovered near a tubewell on the outskirts of the city. Police verified that the man in the video was Adil and confirmed he had been shot though they are still investigating whether he was unconscious before being fired upon or if the video was recorded after he had already been killed.

According to police, this is the first case in Meerut where a murder has been deliberately filmed and circulated online. Adil’s family has lodged a complaint naming six accused in the case.

Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Vipin Tada said the investigation is probing not just the motive for Adil’s murder but also why the accused chose to make the video viral.

“The deliberate filming and circulation of the act raise concerns that organised gangs may be behind such attempts to openly challenge the police,” the SSP said. He added that multiple teams have been deployed to trace the accused.

The brutal murder triggered fresh alarm in a city already reeling from high-profile crimes. Just months ago, Muskaan Rastogi and her lover were arrested for killing her husband and sealing his chopped body inside a cement-filled drum.
