Diljit Dosanjh and ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’s International Emmy nominations: Parineeti Chopra expresses joy; ‘Proud of my team..’

It’s that time again, the time when Diljit Dosanjh would go up onto the stage and might say one more time – ‘Punjabi Aagye Oye!’ And this time, he might say it twice, as Diljit Dosanjh and his series ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ have been nominated for the 53rd International Emmy Awards. The ceremony will be held in New York on November 24, 2025. Diljit and his series, based on the life of late singer Amar Singh Chamkila, have been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor and TV Movie/Mini-Series categories. This news has sent a wave of joy through the industry and among fans. Diljit Dosanjh’s female lead from ‘Chamkila,’ Parineeti Chopra, has also extended her congratulations to the team.

For the unversed, Parineeti Chopra played Amar Singh Chamkila’s second wife, Amarjot Kaur, in the series. Taking to her social media handle, in a few words, she expressed her contentment. She wrote “WOOOHOOOO! Proud of my Team Chamkla!”

The news overwhelmed both Diljit Dosanjh and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali. The actor, who in the recent past saw his fair share of both highs and lows, credited the director and the OTT for the big moment. Taking to his took his social media story and wrote -“It’s all because of Imtiaz Ali, sir @netflix_in.”Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali poured his our as he wrote, “Making us proud @dilijitdosanjh!!! So well deserved.”Diljit Dosanjh shares the nomination with David Mitchell for ‘Ludwig,’ Oriol Pla for ‘Yo, Adicto (I, Addict),’ and Diego Vasquez for ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude.’

What Amar Singh Chamkila is about?

Based on the life of Amar Singh Chamkila, or as many know him, Elvis Presley of Punjab, the series is set in the 1980s. It revolves around the folk singer, who gained fame for his pop music and bold choice of words. The thing that brought him fame also brought him troubles. In 1988, Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife were shot by unidentified assailants while they were travelling to perform. The case to date remains unsolved. Go to Source
