Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles on Tuesday launched the next-generation versions of the Tiago and Tiago.ev hatchbacks, introducing updated styling, connected features, enhanced safety technologies and multiple powertrain options as it seeks to strengthen its presence in India’s hatchback market amid rising SUV demand.

“The Next Gen Tiago is not an evolution but a full reinvention with updated exteriors, a more premium interior, advanced connected technology and a strengthened safety package,” said Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd

Updated design and feature package

The refreshed Tiago lineup gets revised exterior styling, including updated LED daytime running lamps, connected tail lamps, redesigned alloy wheels and new colour options across internal combustion and electric variants.

Inside, the hatchbacks feature a redesigned cabin with dual digital displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera system, a blind-spot monitor, wireless charging, and connected-car features.

The Tiago.ev also adds faster charging capability, with Tata Motors claiming the electric hatchback can gain up to 100 km of range in around 18 minutes through DC fast charging.

Petrol, CNG and EV options retained

The Tiago range continues with petrol, CNG and electric powertrain options, including manual and AMT gearbox choices for petrol and CNG models. The company is also retaining its twin-cylinder iCNG technology and AMT-equipped CNG offering.

The updated Tiago petrol range starts at ₹5 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Tiago CNG lineup begins at ₹6 lakh (ex-showroom).

For the electric version, Tata Motors has announced a starting price of ₹6.99 lakh (ex-showroom) under the standard ownership model.

The company is also offering the Tiago.ev under a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model starting at ₹4.69 lakh, excluding battery subscription charges.

Safety and hatchback market push

The updated models add safety and driver-assistance features including six airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, automatic headlamps and a 360-degree HD camera system.

The launch comes as Tata Motors looks to boost interest in India’s hatchback segment through stronger design, upgraded technology and a wider mix of fuel and drivetrain options, at a time when consumer demand continues to shift toward SUVs.
