What Makes Bread Pizza Pockets So Special?

Bread pizza pockets are a fun take on traditional pizza, a favourite among children. With a cheesy filling, pizza sauce, and colourful veggies, they’re both tasty and wholesome.

Best of all, they can be deep-fried or baked, depending on your preference, and they take just 20–25 minutes to prepare with minimal fuss.

Ingredients For Bread Pizza Pockets

  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • ½ onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp sweetcorn
  • ½ capsicum, finely chopped
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp pizza sauce
  • ¼ cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 9 slices of bread (white or brown)
  • Water (for sealing)
  • Oil (for frying, if deep-frying)

How To Make Bread Pizza Pockets?

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a pan, melt the butter. Add chopped garlic and onions, sauté until golden. Add the carrot, sweetcorn and capsicum. Stir in salt and cook on high heat for around 2 minutes. Next, add the pizza sauce, mix well and switch off the flame. Let the mixture cool before mixing in the grated mozzarella.
  2. Shape the Pockets: Trim the crusts off the bread slices. Flatten each slice with a rolling pin. Place a spoonful of filling in the centre, and seal the edges using a bit of water. Press firmly to ensure they’re properly closed. Repeat with the remaining slices.
  3. Fry or Bake: For a crispy version, deep-fry the pockets in hot oil on medium heat until golden brown. For a healthier alternative, bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 15-20 minutes until golden and crisp.
  4. Serve & Enjoy: Serve hot with tomato ketchup, green chutney, or mayonnaise. These pizza pockets are not just perfect for kids’ tiffin boxes but also make a great tea-time snack for adults.

Quick Tips

  • Add your choice of veggies like mushrooms, olives or paneer for variety.
  • Love it cheesy? Feel free to add extra cheese.
  • Use brown bread for a healthier version.

So next time you’re wondering what to pack in your child’s lunchbox or serve during snack time, give these easy bread pizza pockets a go. They’re guaranteed to be a hit!
