The ICAO, a specialised agency of the United Nations, awarded the certificate for the DGCA’s notable improvement in the “Effective Implementation” of ICAO’s International Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) across all critical technical audit areas. These areas include Airworthiness, Flight Operations, Legislation, and Personnel Licensing, among others. The recognition is a testament to the comprehensive surveillance and audit mechanisms that the DGCA has put in place, reflecting a firm commitment to enhancing aviation safety.

The award is a major milestone for India’s civil aviation sector, placing it among a select group of nations that have demonstrated such notable improvement. This recognition not only boosts India’s standing on the global aviation map but also solidifies the DGCA’s reputation as a strong and vigilant regulatory body.

In a statement, the DGCA expressed its elation and affirmed its commitment to further elevate its performance in future ICAO audits. To achieve this, the organisation has already initiated a process to simplify regulatory procedures, ensuring greater ease of implementation for aviation service providers. This forward-looking approach underscores the DGCA’s dedication to continuous improvement and its goal of maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency in India’s rapidly growing aviation sector.
