Pooja Bhatt REJECTED ‘Aashiqui’ because: ‘Her boyfriend said, she can either be in movies or be with him’ - Exclusive

Love or career? This dilemma often tests the core of one’s priorities. The sad reality is that no one is immune to this crossroad; not even one of Bollywood industry’s strongest ladies – Pooja Bhatt.“My daughter Pooja Bhatt is a strong, fierce, independent girl. A person who is unique in expressing what she feels without any kind of hesitation told Suhrita (Das) something,” said Mahesh Bhatt, while he was speaking to us recently about his movie ‘Tu Meri Poori Kahani,’ where the female protagonist is asked to choose between love and fame.

When Pooja Bhatt chose love over movies in her real life

As the conversation progressed, Suhrita Das, the director of ‘Tu Meri Kahani’, shared an anecdote from Pooja Bhatt’s life that the ‘Sadak’ actress told her.“So, I was sharing with her my film and the notes about it, and she told me, ‘Oh my god, you have to share this experience of my life.’ So, when she was young and, of course, her father being a filmmaker, she was offered ‘Aashiqui,’” said Suhrita. At this point, Mahesh Bhatt told us, Pooja Bhatt was offered ‘Aashiqui’ after ‘Daddy.’ Then Suhrita Das continued, “She was offered the role in ‘Aashiqui,’ which was, of course, later done by Anu Agarwal. She (Pooja Bhatt) was then in a relationship, and as young girls sometimes do get in that conflict, she got in that same conflict. Her boyfriend said that she can either be in movies or be with him.”“She, being young and not knowing what to decide at that moment, had decided to say ‘yes’ to love,” highlighted the director.

Pooja Bhatt regrets her decision?

Such a decision left scars. Suhrita shared, “And later, as I have heard from Sir and her, she regretted that when she came to see the shootings in Ooty. When she saw how things were falling in place, she definitely regretted having said no to that.”“Later, of course, we got Pooja Bhatt, and there was ‘Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahi.’ So, she (Pooja Bhatt) said, you must mention this. ‘Even back then, in my time, I had to go through the test of this or that,’” concluded Suhrita Das.
