The quest for the perfect matchmaking is currently becoming a spectacle. Ever wondered about landing in a marketplace where relationships are brokered like business deals? The Baniya Samaj’s matchmaking event left the social media users scratching their heads.

The video, with a caption that reads, “Indian Marriage System Going ‘Wild’,” features a candid tour of the marriage event organised by the All India Aggarwal Samaj, Haryana, inside the Talkatora Stadium, Delhi. According to a report by The Print, Raj Kumar Goyal, president of the Akhil Bhartiya Aggarwal Samaj-Haryana, is leading the effort to revive the tradition of arranged marriage.

The Matchmaking Event Has Over 1500 Registered Eligible Bachelors

The video begins with influencer Akshit Gupta giving a virtual tour of the event while saying in the background, “Baniyo ka maut ka kuya bhi hai. Abey ye kaha aa gaya Akshit.” Soon, the scene changes to where an eligible bachelor can be heard giving his introduction, followed by him mentioning, “Mujhe ek aese life partner ki talash hai jo (I’m looking for a life partner who)..”

All of these left the influencer stunned. He continued wondering, “Ye woh hai jo main bol nhi sakta. 1500 logo ka bio-data. Baniyo ki bestseller kitaab. (This is something I can’t even describe. Biodata of 1500 people. The best-selling book for the Baniya community.)”

Various Elements Of The Matchmaking Event

As per the same report, Pradeep Mittal, national chairman of the sangathan, introduced the voluntary on-stage introductions and biodata system, among other elements of the event.

In one segment of the viral video, a person standing on the dias was also heard announcing, “40 crore”. Meanwhile, saving himself from the marriage event setup, Akshit shares, “Aise aunty aise mat dekho yaar main available nhi hoon, main apne cousin bhai ke liye aya hoon. (Don’t look at me like this, aunty, I’m not available, I’m here for my cousin brother.)”

He notes, “Lo ji guun aur gotra milao aur seedha mangalsutra pehenao. Hain! Vastu waale bhi aaye huye hai. (Look, match the Guna and Gotra and wear a straight Mangalsutra. Hey! The Vastu experts have also come.)”

Pondering about what was actually happening there, the influencer quips, “Bhai, ye real mein ho raha hai kya (Brother, is this really happening)?” and adds, “Elite caste? What’s the meaning, hello? 2X ka matlab hai 2 crore, 2 khoke, 2 crore ka rishta (A marriage relationship of 2 crore).”

He then takes the viewers inside the food counters, enjoys a golgappa, and concludes the video by stating, “AI kya hi bigad lega inn baniyo ka bhai (hat harm can AI do to these baniya brothers).”

The video’s caption reads, “Shaadiyon ki Mandi! Hey everyone, just to tell you, it is an introduction event that is organised every year by Baniya Samaj to help people match & find their perfect partner.”

“It’s a kind of selfless service in which parents come and meet other parents, their children, and if they find it suitable, they take the conversation ahead. There is no such money involved here, I am not sure, but they just take a 500 rupee registration charge,” he states.

The introduction event can be a pioneering programme in the Indian marriage institution. Don’t you think?
