Here’s How The Incident Unfolded

  • On September 12, multiple gunshots were fired at Patani’s ancestral home in Bareilly’s Civil Lines area at around 3:45 am. None was injured in the firing.
  • Hours after the incident, gangster Goldy Brar — a Canada-based criminal with extensive links to organised networks — claimed responsibility of the incident through a social media post.
  • It was alleged the attack was carried out in protest against remarks supposedly made by Patani and her sister Khushbu about two religious figures: Sant Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya. The message was issued with a warning that this was “just a trailer” and further violence would follow.
  • Following the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spoke to actor Disha Patani’s father, Jagdish Singh Patani, a retired deputy superintendent of police and had assured him that the police would take steps for their safety.
  • The post was deleted on the morning of September 13 and the account was removed by evening.
  • Soon after the incident was reported, the police launched a manhant for the accused.
  • A team led by ACP Dharmender Singh and SI Manjeet Singh found that the accused had reached Ghaziabad on Monday, September 15.
  • It was around 4-5 am on Wednesday, September 17, that the teams found that the accused had finally reached Ghaziabad and were trying to escape.
  • Teams were sent and technical surveillance was mounted on multiple suspects. By afternoon, their location was confirmed and a trap was laid near Tronica City. At 7.20 pm, a police team stopped their bike and asked them to surrender, but they fired.
  • Almost a week after the firing took place, the Delhi Police Special Cell, along with the Uttar Pradesh and Haryana Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday evening (September 17) gunned down two gangsters accused of opening fire outside actor Disha Patani’s house in Bareilly.
  • According to the police, Ravinder was hit in the chest, while Arun suffered bullet injuries to the neck and chest. The duo succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
