‘The Invite’: Olivia Wilde admits to being ‘thrilled and ruined by this experience’

Olivia Wilde and Edward Norton talk about working on ‘The Invite’ and how great an experience it was for all of them.

Olivia Wilde and Edward Norton have taken the lead in their latest project, ‘The Invite’. The two stars recently sat down for an interview to open up about what it was like to work together on such a film and how it differed from the projects they usually work on.

The two star actors recently opened up about their latest release, ‘The Invite,’ and their experience. The duo also weighed in on how important such films are because they provide the audience a sense of relief that they are not the only ones, all while having a good laugh. While sitting down with The Guardian, the duo opened up about the comfort they felt while filming the project. Norton added, “There was a lot of pre-existing comfort and trust,” further sharing that they had all worked with one another before and were well aware of how the other actor was on set. “It would never, ever have had that arc if it had been shot out of sequence. We would have been much more cautious. It had a really profound effect on the way the story layered up toward its finale”, he also shared about working on the film.Wilde added that she shares the same feelings, admitting, “I feel both thrilled and ruined by this experience, because I don’t know when I can possibly expect to have another one like this. To have a group of people so in sync. I do have that feeling that if I never made anything else, I’d be OK.”

During the interview, the two stars also opened up about the reactions they heard from the crowd while watching the film. Norton shared, “People are almost tearful. They’re like: ‘I haven’t had a good, adult laugh that made me feel seen in a long time.’”Wilde, on the other hand, shared that, “My favourite audience laugh is that which seems to say: ‘I thought I was the only one!’ It’s like ha-ha-ha-aaah; a little bit of a moan. When you hear yourself laugh at something that feels revealing, and then someone else does so too, the quiet shame you felt is immediately relieved.”

Plot of ‘The Invite’

The marital comedy follows the life of a married couple who have been together for a long time. Joe and Angela are going through a lot of issues in life, and when Angela plans a surprise party for their bohemian neighbours, things take quite a turn for everyone present. The official synopsis reads, “Joe and Angela’s marriage is on thin ice. When they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbours for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places. Have they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down?”In addition to Edward Norton and Olivia Wilde, the film also stars Seth Rogen and Penélope Cruz in the leading roles. The film is a remake of a popular Spanish film, ‘The People Upstairs,’ which was an adaptation of Cesc Gay’s stage play ‘Els veïns de dalt.’ ‘The Invite’ was directed by Olivia Wilde, while Will McCormack and Rashida Jones worked on the screenplay. It officially premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year on January 24. The film was then officially released in the US on June 26. Go to Source
