Ashwath Marimuthu praises Rajinikanth’s ‘Padayappa charm’

‘Dharman’ is special: Ashwath Marimuthu praises Rajinikanth's 'Padayappa charm' on sets; confirms timeline for 'STR 51'

Director Ashwath Marimuthu had another reason to celebrate as ‘Dragon’ won the Best Entertainer award at a recent event. Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu presented the honour, with Ashwath Marimuthu and producer Aishwarya Kalpathi receiving the award on stage. While delivering his acceptance speech, the filmmaker expressed gratitude to the audience for backing ‘Dragon’ and assured them of exciting news about his forthcoming projects with superstar Rajinikanth and Silambarasan TR.

Ashwath Marimuthu clarifies ‘STR 51’ timeline

Discussing his upcoming projects, Ashwath revealed that his collaboration with Silambarasan TR will only commence after he wraps up ‘Dharman’. “STR is now busy shooting for ‘Arasan’,” he said, according to Cinema Vikatan. Once that concludes, production on Rajinikanth’s ‘Dharman’ will finish, paving the way for STR 51 to begin. The director emphasized the immense responsibility he carries, given that Dharman stars the legendary Rajinikanth and is produced by Kamal Haasan. He expressed strong confidence that this unique project will resonate deeply with Tamil audiences and moviegoers across the country.

Director praises Rajinikanth’s energy and screen presence

Ashwath Marimuthu also shared his experience working with Rajinikanth and how he admires the veteran star’s energy on sets. “Rajini sir does not look his age at all,” he said. Today, he still has the same charm and enthusiasm he had years ago when he starred in “Padayappa”. He is always energetic on the sets and makes the atmosphere lively. Watching him perform in front of the camera is a joyful experience.” The director’s comments reflected the excitement of collaborating with one of Indian cinema’s biggest icons.

Ashwath Marimuthu expresses strong confidence in ‘Dharman’

Sharing more about the film, Ashwath said he is determined to deliver a complete entertainer for Rajinikanth’s fans. “‘Dharman’ will have everything that fans love about Rajini sir—his style, swag and screen presence. It is a dream for many directors to make a film with Rajini sir and Kamal Haasan sir. I have that opportunity, and I know the responsibility that comes with it. ‘Dharman’ will be a blast. On the very first day of shooting, when Rajini sir walked out of the car and entered the hospital set, I watched the monitor and couldn’t stop cheering. It was a whistle-worthy moment even for me,” he said.
