Delhi Police told a court on Friday that the BMW crash case involving Gaganpreet was “not a simple accident”, alleging that she deliberately diverted the injured victim to a faraway hospital instead of a nearby facility.

Investigators argued that Gaganpreet was fully aware of how critical every minute is in accident cases, yet chose to ignore advice to take the victim to the closest hospital. “This was a deliberate attempt,” police submitted, adding that the decision risked the victim’s survival.

The lawyer representing the victim’s family alleged that once taken to a hospital linked to Gaganpreet’s relatives, the severely injured victim was “just dropped on a stretcher,” while Gaganpreet herself was admitted to the ICU.

In court, the victim described the crash’s severity, stating: “Imagine the speed of the vehicle that it turned upside down.”

A Patiala House Court on Wednesday issued notice on the application filed for the preservation of CCTV footage in connection with the Dhaula Kuan BMW accident, in which one person died on September 14.

The application was moved by the counsel for the accused, Gaganpreet Kaur, seeking that the CCTV evidence of the spot be secured. The court has scheduled the hearing on this application for Thursday.

Meanwhile, the bail plea of Gaganpreet will continue to be heard on Saturday.

Earlier, the Delhi Police questioned the accused, Gaganpreet Kaur’s husband, Parikshit Kakkar, after he arrived at the police station to join the investigation into the accident case.

What Gaganpreet’s Husband Told Police

During questioning, the accused driver’s husband, told police that he was unsure how the accident had occurred. He said Gaganpreet informed him that she was taking the injured victim to the hospital, after which he alerted his father-in-law that immediate treatment was required.

According to Delhi Police, Parikshit later took a separate taxi to reach the hospital. “My wife told me she was taking them along. I informed my father-in-law that they needed treatment and that they were on the way. After that, I left in another taxi,” he told investigators.

Police officials said they will now corroborate Parikshit’s account with other evidence to establish the exact sequence of events.

Gaganpreet Kaur has been arrested for allegedly ramming her BMW into a motorcycle near Delhi Cantonment metro station on Sunday. The crash killed Navjot Singh, a senior official in the Finance Ministry, while his wife Sandeep Kaur sustained serious injuries.
