According to agriculture experts, places like Jharkhand have the right climate for pineapple cultivation. But even gardening enthusiasts at home can easily grow pineapples in pots or backyards.
The simplest way to start is by using the leafy crown of a fresh pineapple. Pick a healthy fruit from the market and prepare it for planting.
Gently twist off the crown and remove the small lower leaves. This makes it easier for roots to grow and helps the plant become stronger.
After that, dip the base of the crown in aloe vera gel before planting. This helps protect the plant from bacteria, viruses, or infections and keeps it healthy.
You can now plant it directly in soil, or place it in water until roots appear and then transfer it to soil.
For soil planting, prepare a mix of soil, sand, and cow dung in a pot or grow bag. Press the crown about 4–5 cm deep into the mixture.
Pineapple plants don’t need frequent watering—just keep the soil moist. In 2–3 months, you will notice leaves growing rapidly, and in about 1.5 to 2 years, the plant will start bearing fruit.
