A major fire broke out near Udyog Bhawan in Delhi after a blaze reportedly started in an electrical panel and quickly spread to containers being used as accommodation for construction workers. Several workers’ containers were engulfed in flames, prompting a large-scale firefighting operation. Around 20 fire tenders were deployed to the site to bring the fire under control. Workers present at the location said they noticed flames emerging from the main electrical panel around 3 a.m. and immediately began evacuating with whatever belongings they could save. Many were unable to rescue their possessions, resulting in significant property losses. According to eyewitnesses, multiple LPG cylinders stored inside the containers also caught fire and exploded, intensifying the blaze. Despite the scale of the incident, no casualties or injuries have been reported so far, as workers managed to evacuate in time. Authorities are continuing firefighting and assessment operations, while the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. The incident has raised concerns about electrical safety and living conditions at worker accommodation sites.
