A chilling incident has raised serious questions about public safety in Surat. A man stabbed his son-in-law to death inside Amroli Police Station—right in front of police officers.
The victim, Sagar, had married his girlfriend against her family’s wishes. The woman is now pregnant, but her father, Devidas Kadhre, pressured her to undergo an abortion.
To resolve the dispute, Sagar and his wife’s father went to Amroli Police Station. In the middle of discussions with officers, Devidas suddenly pulled out a knife and attacked Sagar.
Devidas stabbed Sagar in the neck in full public view. Covered in blood, Sagar collapsed on the spot. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The murder inside a police station has sparked fear and outrage. Questions are now being raised about safety in Surat, once called the Diamond City but increasingly dubbed the “Crime City.” Police have arrested Devidas and filed serious charges.
