'Kattalan' box office collections day 5: Antony Varghese film sees heavy decline; India net reaches Rs 8.04 cr

Antony Varghese’s actioner ‘Kattalan’ witnessed another major drop in collections and showed little sign of recovery during its weekday run. According to Sacnilk estimates, the film earned Rs 31 lakhs India net on Day 5. The latest figure reflects a sharp 66.7 percent decline compared to the previous day’s Rs 93 lakhs collection. The film has experienced continuous slowing numbers over the past few days.

India collections cross Rs 8 crore mark

With Day 5 figures included, ‘Kattalan’ has now reached Rs 8.04 crore in total India net collections. The India gross collection currently stands at Rs 9.25 crore.The latest business came from 1,100 shows running across theatres. Malayalam remained the strongest contributor among the available language versions.The Malayalam version earned Rs 20 lakhs on Day 5. The Telugu version added Rs 11 lakhs to the overall earnings. Although the film crossed the Rs 8 crore mark domestically, the pace of growth has slowed significantly compared to its initial days.

Occupancy for ‘Kattalan’ remains on the lower side

The Malayalam version recorded an overall occupancy of 11.40 percent on Day 5. Night shows delivered comparatively stronger attendance and registered 16.58 percent occupancy. Morning screenings remained lower and stood at only 2.50 percent. Afternoon and evening shows marked moderate numbers at 9.25 percent and 8.17 percent respectively.The Telugu version performed a bit better in overall occupancy. It reached 12.03 percent.Morning shows stood at 9.30 percent, while afternoon and evening screenings recorded 9.40 percent and 8.70 percent. Night shows again emerged as the strongest period with 13.90 percent occupancy.Directed by Paul George, ‘Kattalan’ is presented as a large-scale action thriller and places Antony Varghese in the central role.The supporting cast features several actors in important characters.
