The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its probe into the Twisha Sharma death case, making a key arrest after prolonged interrogation. Twisha Sharma’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, was taken into custody following nearly seven hours of questioning, marking a major development in the ongoing investigation. She is expected to be produced before the court today as per legal requirements within 24 hours of arrest. According to officials, the interrogation began around 10 AM and was conducted in multiple phases by different CBI teams. Investigators questioned Giribala Singh in detail about the events surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death on May 12, including her relationship with the deceased and the sequence of incidents leading up to the tragedy. Authorities reportedly confronted her with evidence such as WhatsApp chats, CCTV footage, and call records, which allegedly raised inconsistencies in her statements. Sources indicate that investigators were not satisfied with several of her responses, which ultimately led to her arrest. The case also includes scrutiny of post-incident phone activity and alleged statements made by the accused after Twisha’s death, further deepening suspicion. Meanwhile, the main accused, Samar Singh, remains in CBI custody, which is set to expire today. The agency is expected to seek an extension of his custody from the court for further interrogation. Both accused are likely to be produced before the CBI court, where the agency may request joint custody to facilitate face-to-face questioning. Officials believe that confronting both accused together may help resolve contradictions in their statements and reconstruct the exact timeline of events in the case. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings are expected later today.
