Manchester United set to loan out striker to Napoli as Mainoo also seeks temporary exit

Manchester United are reportedly looking to loan out Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli in the final phase of the transfer window. As per reports, Kobbie Mainoo has requested a loan move again.

With less than 72 hours remaining before the close of the summer transfer window, Manchester United are running out of time to offload their unwanted players. Ruben Amorim’s side has managed to sell only Alejandro Garnacho thus far and has loaned out Marcus Rashford.

While these two players were speculated to fetch the Red Devils some value, and indeed they have brought United £70 million, the likes of Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are still part of the side, and the suspense over whether they will be transferred before the September 1 deadline remains.

The 20-year-old did not play in the first two games of the season in the Premier League. However, he started for the team in the Carabao Cup second round game against Grimsby Town.

The Antony situation took another twist in the last 24 hours. Initial reports claimed United had accepted a Real Betis bid for the Brazilian’s permanent transfer, but Betis quickly shot down the rumours, confirming they had withdrawn their offer and no agreement was in place.

Manchester United’s transfer window: A hit or a miss?

Manchester United’s transfer season has been a mixed bag. The club has done an incredible job when it comes to strengthening the frontline. They spent over £200m to rope in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko. They have also paid heed to the need to bring in a new goalkeeper and are reportedly set to make a final push for Senne Lemmens of Antwerp.

Despite re-energising the attack, United are still winless this season after three matches. Based on the sample space available, United’s frailties in the midfield are quite visible. To address the midfield woes, United reportedly targeted Brighton’s holding midfielder Carlos Baleba, but the expensive demand made by The Seagulls prompted them to step aside and look elsewhere. United were linked with Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller as well in the meantime, but nothing significant developed between the club and the player.

With vulnerabilities present in the midfield, and no one signed yet, United’s transfer window cannot be concluded as successful. Moreover, as mentioned, they are yet to find a solution for the Sancho saga.
