Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner lose bid to seal Ray J docs

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner's request to seal 2023 Ray J settlement documents in court denied by judge - Report

A Los Angeles judge has denied Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner’s bid to seal documents related to a 2023 settlement with Ray J. The dispute centers on an alleged $6 million deal concerning a sex tape, which Ray J claims was breached by the Kardashians discussing it on their Hulu show.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner failed to keep parts of their court dispute with Ray J under seal after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge denied their request, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. The disputed records include a 2023 agreement that Ray J raised in the case. The judge found that Kardashian and Jenner did not provide enough evidence to show that disclosing the material would cause harm.

Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and Ray J’s court dispute

Kardashian and Jenner asked the court to seal documents tied to an alleged 2023 settlement related to the sex tape dispute. The request covered the agreement itself and other filings linked to the matter. In their argument to the court, lawyers for Kardashian and Jenner said, “The agreement resolved highly sensitive matters that the parties explicitly agreed to keep confidential in order to protect their families from public disclosure and respect these sensitive matters.”The judge denied that request. Court records show Kardashian and Jenner were ordered to file unredacted versions of the agreement after Ray J opposed the sealing request. The legal dispute began in October 2025, when Kardashian and Jenner sued Ray J. They alleged that he defamed them by claiming the mother-daughter pair was being examined by federal authorities. Kardashian and Jenner denied those claims in the case.

Ray J’s secret 2023 deal claims

Ray J later filed a countersuit, alleging that Kardashian and Jenner breached a confidential 2023 agreement connected to the sex tape dispute. He claimed the deal required him to remain silent about the tape. He also alleged that he received $6 million under that agreement. In the countersuit, Ray J claimed Kardashian and Jenner violated the deal by discussing the tape in an episode of their Hulu show. The Kardashian family has not confirmed the alleged $6 million payment. Kardashian and Jenner then asked the court to keep the agreement and related documents private, citing confidential and personal information. Ray J objected to that request, and the judge ruled in his favor on the sealing issue. The ruling addresses public access to the court records and does not resolve the underlying claims in the lawsuit and countersuit. The case between Kardashian, Jenner, and Ray J remains ongoing.
