Ben Affleck hopes children avoid acting; cites public life challenges

Ben Affleck reveals whether he wants his children to become actors or not; jokes that ‘they don't waste their life acting’

Ben Affleck, the leading man in ‘The Rip,’ shared his hopes for his children to explore careers outside of acting. He acknowledges the challenges that come with fame and, alongside ex-wife Jennifer Garner, strives to nurture an environment where Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel can pursue their interests freely.

In a recent interview, ‘The Rip’ star Ben Affleck revealed that he does not really want his children to get into acting the way he did. The star revealed how he is managing everything after the publicized divorce from Jennifer Garner.

Ben Affleck shares his plans for his kids

The actor talked about how he and Garner do not look forward to their children becoming actors. While talking to E! News at the premiere event of his latest film, ‘The Rip’, the actor was asked about his family and whether there is a possibility of his children ever venturing into acting like their parents. He shared that, “You put something on your children when you have a public life, and that’s complicated. We really want to give them room to figure out what they want to do.”He further joked about how he hopes that they do not go into acting and that they work on whatever they wish to do. “I wouldn’t push them into that. They’re brilliant and lovely and wonderful, and we love them, and we’re proud of them, and hope that they don’t waste their life acting,” he concluded. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were married for around 10 years, and share three children: Violet, who is 20, Seraphina, who is 17, and their youngest, Samuel, who is 13. Both Garner and Affleck have kept their children away from the public eye for the most part.

Jennifer Garner praises her children

In an older interview with Marie Claire UK, Garner also sang praises about her three children, citing that she could not be prouder of them. At the time, she said, “They’re just so cool! Parenting now has shifted. It’s more about parenting with a button on my mouth…. You have to let them grow up and make their choices. You don’t get to control it.”The two actors got married in 2005, and parted ways after 10 years of marriage in 2015. Their divorce settlement was finalized in 2018.
