Twitter Down: X (formerly Twitter), the microblogging platform owned by Elon Musk, is down for hundreds of users across the world. The problem appeared after a massive outage impacted Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Cloudflare. These are popular cloud computing services that support online platforms and games such as X, ChatGPT, Valorant, and others. Naturally, if AWS or Cloudflare face trouble, its impact is seen on other dependent platforms as well.
What Does Downdetector Show?
As per outage tracker Downdetector, over 1,000 users reported issues with X from India alone at 5:18 pm IST. At the time of writing, the reports are on a downward curve, suggesting that services are getting restored slowly for users.

Downdetector’s outage map (screenshot below) shows reports pouring in from cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

As per Downdetector, users are facing issues with X across the world, including countries such as the US, the UK, and Australia.
At the time of writing, X appears to be working briefly for users in spells, before becoming inactive again. It’s safe to speculate that once the AWS or Cloudflare situation gets fixed, X should be back to normal.
Musk Made Fun Of AWS Outage Earlier
Back in October, when AWS suffered a major outage that disrupted services worldwide, Elon Musk seized the moment to take a jab at the cloud giant. Posting repeatedly on X, he suggested that the platform continued operating without hiccups precisely because it doesn’t rely on AWS or any “advertising hooks.” Emphasising the platform’s independence, Musk said, “The messages are fully encrypted with no strange AWS dependencies, so even if someone put a gun to my head, I couldn’t read your messages.”
ELON FLEXES AS INTERNET MELTS: “𝕏 STILL WORKS”
As AWS choked and apps across the web faceplanted, one platform kept breathing: 𝕏.
𝕏 stayed online while giants like Snapchat, Roblox, and Canva collapsed.

Musk also pointed out that X now handles file sharing along with audio and video calls, presenting it as a dependable option when other services face large-scale disruptions.
