Shweta Tripathi, at 40, shares her holistic skincare mantra which is rooted in diet, exercise, mental well-being, Ayurveda, and minimal, mindful beauty rituals.

Regular workouts and Ayurvedic practices are key to Shweta Tripathi's skincare routine.

Regular workouts and Ayurvedic practices are key to Shweta Tripathi’s skincare routine.

Shweta Tripathi, who celebrated her 40th birthday, believes skincare is not just about what you apply externally but also about what you consume and how you live.

For Shweta, skincare rests on three powerful pillars: diet, exercise and thoughts. She emphasised that healthy, glowing skin comes from nourishing the body inside-out, not just layering products on top.

Having transitioned from being a non-vegetarian to a committed vegetarian, Shweta Tripathi is a strong advocate for clean and uncomplicated eating. She avoids fad diets and instead treasures homemade meals. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, she revealed her mantra: “Rely on products, but more importantly, rely on what you put in your system.”

“I don’t mean to follow fad diets. I’m a lover of homemade food. Whether I go on set, for promotions, or even if I’m staying at a hotel, I speak to the chef and request that they make the food the way they make it at their home, because then they use less butter and oil. I believe the simpler, the better,” she said.

This focus on wholesome, minimal cooking not only benefits her skin but also keeps her overall well-being in check.

Stress-Free Living: How Mental Health Reflects On Skin

The actress acknowledges that beauty products have their place, but she firmly believes that mental health and inner calm play a greater role in achieving glowing skin.

“Stress affects the skin and hair. You can use the most expensive products, but if your thoughts aren’t in the right place, nothing will work. What we need to focus on is internal,” she explained.

This mindful approach to wellness makes Shweta a strong voice in advocating that true beauty is holistic.

Fitness as the Ultimate Skincare Routine

For Shweta, regular workouts are non-negotiable. She said physical activity not only boosts energy but also naturally enhances the skin’s glow.

“Post-workout glow is the best skincare ritual we can do for ourselves. Choose whatever -dance, strength training, or yoga – just remember that discipline in whatever way will always pay off,” shared the actor.

Moisturising, Discipline and the 30-Day Challenge

Since she has naturally dry skin, Shweta makes moisturising a daily ritual. Recently, she challenged herself to follow a strict 30-day skincare routine to ensure she didn’t skip cleansing and hydration. She also highlighted the importance of knowing one’s skin type and being cautious with new products: patch testing, she says, is essential.

Ayurveda, Oil Pulling and Time-Tested Home Remedies

Shweta is deeply connected to Ayurvedic practices and traditional beauty remedies passed down from her family. She often includes oil pulling in her daily routine and prefers natural, locally sourced oils over chemical-based products.

She fondly recalled her mother’s DIY face packs. “My mother used to make a pack with orange peels and moong dal, which felt very good on the skin. We should stay connected to these home remedies that have been passed down from generations,” she said.

Skin Fasting and Minimal Makeup Choices

Unlike many in the entertainment industry, Shweta practices what she calls “skin fasting.” After long shoots, she avoids layering multiple products, focusing only on cleansing. Day to day, she sticks to minimal makeup – just moisturiser, sunscreen, blush and defined brows.

“I like my skin, my nails, and my hair to breathe. Detox for skin and nails is very important,” she explained, stressing the value of letting the body rest from constant cosmetic use.

Confidence and Natural Beauty Go Hand-in-Hand

For Shweta, beauty is rooted in confidence and authenticity. “If I’m comfortable in my skin, makeup only enhances it. The more we make this a habit, the better it helps us,” she reflected. Her routine champions minimalism, mindfulness, and natural remedies over excess.

Shweta Tripathi’s Acting Journey and New Role as Producer

Shweta Tripathi is widely recognised for her role as Gajgamini ‘Golu’ Gupta in Amazon Prime’s Mirzapur (2018). Her breakout performance in Neeraj Ghaywan’s Masaan (2015) earned her critical acclaim, and she went on to act in projects like Haraamkhor, Gone Kesh and Cargo.

In 2025, she announced her debut as a producer, expressing her dedication to supporting unconventional stories that challenge norms and spark meaningful dialogue, as reported by media outlets.
