The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) brought not just music but also high-voltage fashion moments to New York. Music icons stepped onto the red carpet in breathtaking ensembles, blending avant-garde statements with classic glamour. From Sabrina Carpenter’s lingerie-inspired Valentino gown to Doja Cat’s pastel Balmain showstopper and Conan Gray’s navy sailor-inspired ruffled ensemble, the evening was a masterclass in red carpet extravagance.

Here are the most-talked-about looks of the night.

Sabrina Carpenter’s In Valentino

Singer Sabrina Carpenter stunned in a sheer, body-hugging crimson lace dress by Valentino. She brought back old Hollywood glamour by pairing the full-sleeved look with a dramatic purple feather boa. With her blonde hair styled in loose, side-parted waves, she perfectly channelled her inner Jessica Rabbit.

Doja Cat In Balmain

Doja Cat lit up the red carpet in a striking Balmain mini dress. The outfit featured a harlequin-inspired pastel pattern in yellow and lavender, elevated with bold pink embellishments along the plunging neckline and shoulders. Adding her signature eccentric twist, she carried a quirky lipstick-shaped clutch by Judith Leiber and even ate a tube of actual lipstick on the red carpet.

Conan Gray In Erik Charlotte

Conan Gray made a bold statement in an Erik Charlotte creation. He wore a navy sailor-inspired ensemble featuring exaggerated puff sleeves, a lace-up bodice, and layered ruffles with white lace peeking underneath. The look was completed with a matching sailor hat adorned with feathers and embroidery, giving off a theatrical, almost fairytale-like vibe on the red carpet.

Ricky Martin’s Monochrome Magic

Ricky Martin looked too hot to be on a red carpet in an unbuttoned white silk shirt. The singer, who won the Latin Icon Award, donned the monochrome magic. He paired the shirt with high-waisted black trousers and rounded off the look with a statement neckpiece.

Tyla In Chanel

Tyla rewound fashion history by donning a Chanel top from the house’s 1993 collection. Originally modelled by Claudia Schiffer, the singer styled it as a minidress. Layered jewellery, a waist chain and black heels gave the archival look a refreshing modern twist.

FKA Twigs In Louis Souvestre

Singer-producer FKA Twigs turned heads on the red carpet in a custom Louis Souvestre ensemble that highlighted her sculpted abs. However, it was her unique braided headphones, crafted by celebrity hairstylist Louis Souvestre, that truly stole the spotlight.
