If handbags could tell stories, Ameesha Patel’s closet would be an entire anthology of luxury. The Gadar 2 actress has been curating her collection since she was 12, and today, her cupboards hold nearly 400 designer bags. With a mix of rare Birkins, Chanels, and Diors, each bag could range from anywhere between lakhs to crores. Recently, when Farah Khan dropped by with a camera, what unfolded wasn’t a casual home tour but a jaw-dropping showcase of one of Bollywood’s most enviable fashion collections.

Among the many jaw-dropping reveals was Ameesha Patel’s dedicated Birkin cupboard. From a soft powder-blue classic to a rare pink crocodile leather edition she picked up 15 years ago, the collection could make any fashion enthusiast weak in the knees. Clutching one bag close, Farah exclaimed, “This feels better than hugging any boyfriend.” Without missing a beat, Ameesha quipped, “Why do you think I have bags and no boys?”

Farah’s amazement only grew as cupboard after cupboard revealed treasures from Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and more. At one point, she gasped at an orange Bottega Veneta design she’d never seen before. Ameesha, unfazed, added casually that she owned the same one in black, too.

The Chanel section in particular was enough to rival a boutique. Rows of quilted classics and limited editions, some starting at Rs 5 lakh and soaring upwards, filled the shelves. Farah was quick to tease her friend about not giving her bags enough outings. Ameesha laughed, replying, “I used this one last June.”

Ameesha knows her collection is no small investment. “If I didn’t have a habit of collecting bags, I would have owned a penthouse in Mumbai,” she admitted. But regret? None whatsoever. In her world, handbags hold far more value than square footage.

Her relationships with luxury houses only reinforce her reputation as a true collector. “Every designer knows I am a collector, so they call me when something new launches in India. Even in Paris or Dubai, the shops know me,” she shared. To which Farah joked, “And we are only known by our vegetable vendors here.”

From rare Birkins worth crores to Chanel pieces with museum-level appeal, Ameesha Patel’s handbag universe isn’t just a collection. It’s a legacy in leather and luxury.
