Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 History
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Legend has it that Parvati created Ganesha from the clay and dirt of her own body, bringing him to life to guard her while she bathed.
When Shiva returned home and found Ganesha blocking his path, he became enraged and severed the young boy’s head.
Heartbroken, Parvati pleaded for her son to be restored, prompting Shiva to replace Ganesha’s head with that of an elephant, thereby giving him the iconic form worshipped today.
