‘Coolie’ earns over Rs 3 crore on second Tuesday

'Coolie' Box Office collection day 13: Rajinikanth’s film SLOWS down, earns over Rs 3 crore on second Tuesday amid Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in India

Rajinikanth’s latest release ‘Coolie’ arrived in cinemas around Independence Day with sky-high hopes. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film promised a solid gangster drama with the superstar in the lead and a star-studded cast to back him up.The hype was justified as ‘Coolie’ stormed through its first week, racing past the Rs 200 crore mark at the Indian box office. But as the second week rolled in, although the film crossed Rs 260 crore mark, the shine began to fade. Weekdays have brought a clear dip in earnings, showing that the film’s dream run is starting to slow.

‘Coolie’ collects over Rs 3 crore on day 13

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, on its second Tuesday, day 13 of release, ‘Coolie’ earned around Rs 3.25 crore (India net) across all languages. This took the total collection to Rs 263.85 crore.Interestingly, the numbers on Day 13 were almost identical to day 12, when the film also collected Rs 3.25 crore. That second Monday marked the film’s lowest single-day earning so far. Despite a roaring start, the film’s pace has clearly taken a hit in its second week.

Day 13 occupancy numbers

The film’s occupancy reports on Day 13 reflect this dip. The Tamil version recorded 15.14% occupancy, the Hindi version managed 15.67%, and the Telugu version stood at 15.03%. These numbers paint a clear picture, after the high-energy first week, weekday business has slowed down across all versions.

‘Coolie’s day-wise box office collection

Day 1 [Thursday]: Rs 65 croreDay 2 [Friday]: Rs 54.75 croreDay 3 [Saturday]: Rs 39.5 croreDay 4 [Sunday]: Rs 35.25 croreDay 5 [Monday]: Rs 12 croreDay 6 [Tuesday]: Rs 9.5 croreDay 7 [Wednesday]: Rs 7.5 croreDay 8 [Thursday]: Rs 6.15 croreWeek 1 total: Rs 229.65 croreDay 9 [Friday]: Rs 5.85 croreDay 10 [Saturday]: Rs 10.5 croreDay 11 [Sunday]: Rs 11.35 croreDay 12 [Monday]: Rs 3.25 crore Day 12 [Tuesday]: Rs 3.25 crore (early estimates)Grand total after 13 days: Rs 2263.85 crore

Box office clash continues with ‘War 2’

‘Coolie’ had to face a heavyweight rival right from its release day. Ayan Mukerji’s ‘War 2’, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, released on the same day. The clash raised eyebrows, with fans waiting to see which film would win the box office race.So far, Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ has stayed ahead. Even on Day 13, despite its lowest earning so far, it still managed to outshine ‘War 2’. While ‘Coolie’ collected Rs 3.25 crore net, ‘War 2’ brought in Rs 2.75 crore on the same day. That pushed ‘War 2’s total to Rs 227.25 crore, which means ‘Coolie’ continues to dominate the race.

Ganesh chaturthi celebrations affect weekday numbers?

One reason for the recent dip could be the start of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations across the country. As families turn their focus to the festival, cinema outings may tend to take a backseat. The coming weekend will be crucial, if festive crowds return, ‘Coolie’ may pick up pace again. If not, its collections may continue to flatten out.

What is ‘Coolie’ about?

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, ‘Coolie’ is an action-packed gangster thriller. Rajinikanth plays Deva, a former coolie union leader who is pushed into a deadly conflict after the death of his close friend Rajasekhar, played by Sathyaraj. Deva takes on the powerful cartel boss Simon, portrayed by Nagarjuna, and his brutal right-hand man Dayal, played by Soubin Shahir. The film also features Shruti Haasan and Upendra in key roles, adding depth to the story. To top it off, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan makes a special cameo appearance, creating one of the film’s biggest crowd-pleasing moments.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
