Doctors and health influencers across the globe are raising an alarm against the number of harmful daily habits that are silently raising the risk of multiple health hazards. Whether it is eating late, consuming excess caffeine, junk food, late-night snacking, or lazily lying down for an extended time immediately after a meal. If you have any of these habits, be informed that you are contributing to a host of body issues for yourself. Here is a list of habits that you should immediately address to adapt a healthier lifestyle.

Late-Night Eating

Recommended Stories

Individuals who eat late at night regularly are prone to diabetes, suggests recent research. According to a study pertaining to the issue, individuals who consume more than 45 per cent of their daily calories after 5 PM experience worse glucose tolerance than those who consume the same daily calories but with an even spread throughout the day. Such a heavy glucose spike naturally affects the blood sugar levels and may lead to type 2 diabetes.

Too Much Salt

Consuming too much sodium chloride impacts the blood pressure negatively, keeping it abnormally high. According to a 2023 trial conducted by JAMA across 213 middle-aged to older adults, a diet with reduced sodium consumption was found to naturally lower the systolic blood pressure by about 8 mm Hg.

Skipping Meals

A bad eating pattern and skipping meals frequently may trigger migraine in the long run because of the significant drop in glucose consumption. According to a review by US-based National Library of Medicine, a drop in glucose indirectly affects the brain and nervous system, leading to overreactions that pave the path for headaches.

Inactive Lifestyle

Lack of physical activity and exercise raises the risk of heart disease, including conditions like coronary heart disease (CHD). A lazy lifestyle is bound to cause ineffective weight management and subsequently lead to high blood pressure. Regular exercise improves your cardiovascular function and moderates the risks associated with high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes.

Eating Processed Foods

Regularly indulging in junk or processed foods causes multiple liver health issues. These ultra-processed food items are packed with sugars, refined carbs and unhealthy fats. According to a 2024 study, people who regularly consume such foods face a higher risk of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).
