When it comes to fitness in Bollywood, Akshay Kumar has long set the gold standard. At 57, the superstar continues to stun fans with his energy, agility, and commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Known for doing his stunts, following a clean diet, and embracing discipline over shortcuts, he recently shared the principles that keep him at his fittest.

Speaking at the launch of Your Body Already Knows, Akshay Kumar revealed that his wellness philosophy boils down to three things: fasting once a week, finishing dinner before sunset, and staying away from traditional weight training.

A Full-Day Fast on Mondays

Discipline, Akshay said, is at the core of his lifestyle. Sharing his weekly ritual, he explained:

“I fast on Mondays, like a full-day fast. Sunday is the last meal, and then after that, Monday is a full-day fast till Tuesday morning.”

Fasting offers multiple benefits: it can boost metabolism, reset circadian rhythm, improve sleep, aid digestion, and enhance focus. It’s also a natural way to detoxify the body.

Why 6:30 PM Is His Dinner Cut-Off

The actor also revealed his habit of eating an early dinner – always by 6:30 PM. Explaining why, he said, “By the time you get up, it is time for your stomach to relax. But when we get up, we eat our breakfast, and again the poor stomach is working. It’s working very hard. I’m explaining it in a very, very simple way. And you all know how important it is to keep our stomach healthy because all the diseases that exist come from there.”

He added, “I think that among all the parts in your body, if you pay maximum attention to your stomach, diseases will not come near you. Eating at 6:30 is important because you get time to digest your food, and by the time you sleep by 9–10 pm, the stomach is completely ready to rest. It’s a very simple thing.”

His Workout Philosophy: No Weights, Just Movement

While many swear by traditional gyms, Akshay confessed he doesn’t train conventionally. He avoids crash diets, processed foods, and heavy weights, preferring natural and functional workouts. Instead, his regimen includes rock climbing, outdoor sports, and body-weight exercises.

With a laugh, he described his gym setup: “It’s for monkeys,” designed more for climbing and hanging than for lifting.

At its core, Akshay’s fitness mantra is about sustainability rather than trends. His emphasis on gut health, mindful eating, and natural movement reflects a philosophy that goes beyond aesthetics. It’s about longevity, balance, and keeping the body light, strong, and disease-free.
