Tensions were reported in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district after a TMC councillor in Khardah faced strong public anger. According to reports, a mob attacked the councillor’s residence on Sunday night, damaging property and vandalising his vehicle. The incident is said to have been triggered by allegations from locals that the councillor had been involved in extortion and intimidation in the area for a long time. Residents accused him of threatening people and exerting undue influence, which led to widespread resentment in the locality. The situation escalated into violence, with people reportedly gathering outside his house and carrying out acts of vandalism. Following complaints from residents, police arrested the accused TMC councillor. Authorities are now investigating the incident and examining both the allegations against the councillor and the circumstances that led to the public outburst.
