SYSTEM FINAL PHASE: NEET Re-Exam Nears End of Entry Window Amid Tight Security Nationwide

The NEET re-examination for nearly 22 lakh candidates across India has reached its critical final entry phase, with students rushing to enter examination centres before the 1:30 PM deadline. The exam, which was necessitated after allegations of a paper leak in the earlier cycle, is being conducted under one of the most stringent security frameworks seen in recent years. The examination is scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM, with candidates receiving 15 minutes of additional time compared to standard duration. Entry gates were opened at 11:00 AM, and authorities have been strictly enforcing cut-off timings to ensure a smooth and disciplined process. Across cities such as Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Mohali, and other major centres, heavy security deployment is visible. In Delhi, special arrangements including cooling zones, drinking water facilities, and seating areas for parents have been created outside examination centres to manage large crowds and extreme weather conditions. Meanwhile, reports from Mohali highlight the emotional stress faced by students and parents due to the re-examination, with many expressing concerns over disrupted preparation cycles and reduced confidence in the system. As the entry window closes, attention now shifts fully to the conduct of the examination itself, which is being closely monitored nationwide.
