Protests Over Bangladesh: Protests Intensify Outside Bangladesh High Commission

Protests outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi continued on Wednesday, with demonstrators reiterating demands for stronger action to protect Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. Religious leaders, sadhus, and members of various organizations addressed the gathering, urging the Indian government to take firm diplomatic steps and ensure that minority rights are safeguarded. Protesters called for increased international pressure on Bangladesh, including raising the issue at global human rights forums. Several speakers appealed to the Indian government to review bilateral engagements in light of the prevailing situation, stating that protection of minorities must remain a priority in diplomatic dialogue. The demonstration saw heavy police deployment, with multiple barricades installed to prevent protesters from moving closer to the High Commission. Despite attempts by some demonstrators to advance, police officials maintained control of the situation and repeatedly appealed for calm through public address announcements. Authorities confirmed that no permission had been granted for the protest at the sensitive diplomatic location. Participants, including women and elderly individuals, said their protest was aimed at highlighting humanitarian concerns and ensuring safety for minority communities. Organizers indicated that demonstrations would continue in a peaceful manner until their concerns receive adequate attention. Officials stated that security arrangements remain in place and the situation is being closely monitored to prevent any breach of law and order. Diplomatic engagement between India and Bangladesh on minority protection remains ongoing amid rising public pressure.
